Sorry, been out of the Zuka lately. Will get caught up, promise!
In the meantime, the announcement for the next Hoshigumi Grand Theater show threw me for a moment, since it's been so long since they've done a three-parter, but then I remembered how much they like to do that sort of thing for foreign tours (and the timing is perfect for the Taiwan tour), so probably the Nihonmono and the revue bit (at least) will be in the foreign tour. And then I was highly amused to realize this was the first Fujii-sensei show in five years to not have an exclamation point (or two) in the title. XD

Speaking of Tsukigumi top stars... A co-worker just dragged me to the computer to show me this clip Fuji TV put up of Amami Yuuki from her new musical drama The Frog Princess:

Ohhhhhhh my god. Takarazuka is doing LOGH! (This series is massive.)
.... They haven't done a SF Daigekijo since the 80s, I think?
This is going to be very interesting.
Not sure how I feel about an '@' sign being used in a title, though. The editor in me is twitching.

I'm not going to be able to see her in The King and I, because Masaki's ochakai in Takarazuka is the weekend it's playing in Tokyo. T-T So I may try to see the Genji revival instead. We'll see how things look after payday.

I just realized (in a very belated kind of way), that Yuuhi and Masaki will both be top stars performing at the Tokyo and Daigekijo theaters at the same time♥ It all seems very karmic.
Yuuhi, thank you for supporting her and giving her that push she needed as an underclassman!
PS - The poster went up last weekend, if anyone hasn't seen it yet.

So, um, it doesn't look like I'll be getting to a review anytime soon (I did get the revue details up on the TakaWiki though!) , so in basic outline:
I should never have doubted Ono-sensei. Edward VIII is rather funny, with that deep, achey kind of tug between duty and love that he seems to like so much (thinking of Yume no Ukihashi). Beautifully (im)mature and humanly fallible Kiriyan and Marimo playing off of each other as they do, with sparks flying everywhere and no care for any collateral damage. What other top musumeyaku gets to play a twice-divorcee and mistress in her last show?
Saito-sensei continues to be an uber-geek. At first viewing the animation kind of overwhelmed the show and I was a bit disappointed because somehow it made the costumes look more like cheap cosplay than revue costumes. However, it's the kind of cracktastic Tsukigumi revue that I've been missing and how can you not love a director who makes the top musumeyaku an arena warrior and then the goddess of the hunt?
Both musical and revue had so much love for the taidansha!
The otokoyaku stair dance in tailcoats to "The Final Countdown"? Priceless.
And Rizu-chan's kage-solo during Kiriyan and Marimo's final pair dance is... well... The people I love each doing the things I love them doing best. I'm already tearing up each time I see it. I'm sure in a couple of weeks I'll be sobbing.
PS - I am v. sure we are gay with Man-chan, as well as being a Soviet spy. I feel like we've stepped out of a LeCarré novel♥ Life is good♥

I've been so wrapped up in my hectic life that I totally forgot today was the day the results of the entrance exams for the 100th class would be announced!
Mainichi Shinbun article with 6 pics
NHK video
FNN video
MBS video
40 girls were accepted out of 924 applicants (one in 23.1). There were fewer applicants from the Tohoku area than usual because of the afteraffects of the quake, so there were 16 fewer applicants than last year.
For one of the girls, this was her fourth try and last chance. :D
Their entrance ceremony will be April 16th, and their hatsubutai will be in 2014 (of course!)♥
